Semiotics-Roland Barthes(Blog Post 6)

sign: The colors.
signifier: Barry Egan by himself being surrounded by blue.
signified: Barry Egan is isolated.
denotative meaning: It is a color of the rainbow that humans can see.
connotative meaning: Blue has a negative connotation with emotions like sadness and loneliness 
code: Office work: The suit, the paper on the table, the table, formal wording and the sound of pens.

This clip establishes the fact that Barry Egan isn't satisfied with his life most likely because of loneliness .The first shot  Barry is far away from the camera, with a lot of space distancing the audience from him, showing how isolated he is. The color blue surrounds him and because of the association of the color, the audience understands that its not a happy thing that he is so far away.
